New Moon in Virgo

On Friday, August 30, 2019, at 6:37 am we welcome the New Moon in Virgo.

As we’ve spoken about before, a New Moon represents the end of one cycle and the beginning of another 28-day cycle. The effects of the New Moon in Virgo will last for about four weeks and will lead us to the September 28th New Moon. The best time for making a fresh start and for beginning new projects is during the first two weeks of this New Moon cycle.

This particular New Moon draws in the energy of Virgo; the virgin, the mother and the goddess. The Virgo Sun Season teaches us to find and hone our unique gifts and give them freely to the world. Her season is a time of service and shedding light on our true calling. It’s time to focus on yourself and your healing. Until we heal ourselves, we cannot truly be of service to others.

Black New Moon in Leo

Alas, a Black New Moon is upon us...sounds eerie, huh? No need to fret! A black moon occurs when there are two New Moons in one month.  As if the month wasn’t already jam-packed with cosmic energy, we are set to welcome July’s second New Moon on July 31st.

Now that we’ve made it through a pretty sizable astrological storm - solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, Full Moon in Capricorn and of course, Mercury Retrograde - this is the perfect time for a check-in to see how you weathered the proverbial storm.

Did you welcome change or did you resist it? Did you fly off the handle or were you able to keep your composure? Did you release what no longer serves you or did you hold on for dear life?

Habits & How To Shape Them

What shoulder do you carry your handbag on? What side of the bed do you sleep on? Do you reach for the toothbrush or the toothpaste first when brushing your teeth? How do you get to work?

Most of these actions are not something we consciously think about. They just happen, almost automatically and without our full decision-making process being engaged. These actions are our daily habits which, once embedded in our routines, are very difficult to change. So why do they exist? How do they form and are there important to lead a balanced life?

According to ‘The Power of Habit’, “habits emerge because our brains constantly look for ways to save effort”. When a habit emerges, the brain slows down the activity of decision making. Unless you deliberately fight a habit, a pattern unfolds automatically. Some habits may be easier to form than others, but they never really disappear, and our brains can’t tell the difference between good and bad habits. Which means that a new habit becomes as automatic as any other.

New Moon in Cancer

Tuesday at 12:16pm pst we welcome a new moon in Cancer with a solar eclipse. This moon encourages us to feel into our home on earth and ultimately within ourselves. This is an opportunity to really tune in to the energy of our emotions and sift through them to explore what brings us into that feeling of wholeness, a sense of safety, and connectedness.

Allow the Cancer energy to wrap you in the feelings of security for the next several months. This is an important time for us to go inward and really feel into what is serving us and what is no longer in alignment with our highest good, and the strong energy of the moon will make a clear dividing line between the two.

The chakras correlated with this moon are Root and Sacral. While the Root Chakra corresponds with our most basic survival needs for home in terms of physical safety, it is only once those are met that we can fully feel in to our emotions and what will make us thrive from our Sacral Chakra.
